Bedside Language Series

The Bedside Language Series was produced in 2021 by Dr. Rebekah Gardner, Vinald Francis, Daniel Baxter, and Dr. Kate Cahill

After producing a medical graphic for Drs. Gardner and Cahill, Francis realized their topic was a good fit for a graphic medicine treatment. He suggested they collaborate with Baxter to make a medical comic illustrating some of their research. The topic was the use of language by the medical team when rounding at the bedside, with the patient present, as opposed to in the hallway or conference room.

They decided to set these comics in the world of Soda Pop Hospital. This became the Bedside Language Series.

A selection of these comics were published in the Annals of Internal Medicine in 2023.
